The competition for the title of the best team in the world will start in Germany and Latvia, and the final will take place with Poland’s participation at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw (August 29).

The 2026 Team World Cup will determine the best speedway team in the world for the nineteenth time. The competition in this format and under this name debuted at the beginning of the 21st century and took place annually until 2017. Then they were replaced by pair competition, the Speedway of Nations tournament, and the DPS returned to the calendar only in 2023, when it was decided it would be held every three years.

The upcoming edition of the DPS will feature 10 countries: Poland, Australia, Germany, Latvia, Denmark, Sweden, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Norway, with the participants of the speedway world cup being determined by the Speedway of Nations competition held at the end of the 2025 season in Toruń. According to the new regulations, the competition will consist of two semifinals and a final. The hosts of each event have secured the right to participate in each stage. The German team will compete in front of their home audience in the first semifinal, the Latvian team in the second, and Poland, as the organizer of the final, is assured of qualification. Australia is also guaranteed a spot in the final as the SoN winner. What about the rest?

The other six countries are awaiting assignment to their semifinals. FIM, in consultation with the event promoter, will announce how this will be decided. Importantly, only the winners of the competitions in Germany and Latvia will advance to the DPS final. However, unlike previous editions, there will be no playoffs in 2026. This means that countries finishing second, third, and fourth in the semifinals will be eliminated from the competition.

– We can’t wait for next year’s final in Warsaw. We know there is enormous excitement among teams, riders, and fans for this fantastic event taking place at PGE Narodowy – said Armando Castagna, director of the FIM Track Racing Commission.

What does Stanisław Chomski think about the Team World Cup final in Warsaw? – There used to be a trend of holding major events in such large stadiums, with venues like Cardiff, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin, or Norway and the events in Hamar, so I see that promoters know how to count money, and we as Poles organize it best, creating optimal conditions for fans, especially at PGE Narodowy. The events in the Polish capital are on a global scale when it comes to motorsports – he said in an interview with us. The full interview with Stanisław Chomski will be available soon on ekstraliga.pl.
