Calling Tomasz Gollob a legend of Polish and world speedway is not an exaggeration. And it is this man, the 2010 world champion, who for years was also the captain and stalwart of the Polish national team, who spoke before the DPŚ at PGE Narodowy. – You can only say good things about such an event. Regardless of the result – Tomasz Gollob emphasizes at the beginning of our conversation.

–This will be a celebration not only of Polish but also of world speedway. I have always advocated that PGE Narodowy be something more for us, that it be the home of the Polish national team. We once had the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, and now it’s time for such a new place for great events. It’s good that we followed through, that instead of the Grand Prix there is something else. And it’s not just anything, because the Team Speedway World Cup is an event close to my heart, but I also think it’s close to every Pole’s heart. We love this tournament for the emotions and successes – our champion comments.
Gollob admits that this will not be an easy event for our national team. He has specific concerns. Nevertheless, he would recommend the DPŚ at PGE Narodowy to everyone. – I don’t know who will win. However, for fans, it will be excellent competition with adrenaline and emotions to the end. For us, it won’t be an easy event. Australians or English feel good on such tracks. Short, sandy, essentially English. But still, we have to go out there and fight for the eagle, for the fans – emphasizes Gollob.
Gollob pleased with the choice of Chomski: “I hope he wins“
The Polish multi-medalist of DPŚ is very pleased that after the departure of coach Rafał Dobrucki, the reins of the national team were taken over by Stanisław Chomski, with whom he won gold in 2005 in Wrocław. – I’ll start by saying that this nomination is no surprise to me. From the beginning, I thought that if not Marek Cieślak, then precisely Stasiu Chomski should take up this task. And he decided, and I hope he wins. He doesn’t say it loudly, but it’s obvious that he wants it. I believe he will assemble our team well and lead the team so that they represent our country with dignity – notes the Polish champion.
Gollob appeared at PGE Narodowy twice. Each time it was his farewell to something big (Grand Prix, national team), but above all an opportunity to meet fans. – At such a stadium, you just want to live and compete. As I said, it won’t be easy, because no Pole has ever won the Grand Prix at PGE Narodowy, but surely, there must be a first time – concludes Gollob.
