Artem Laguta secured the second place during the MAXTO ITS Individual International Championships of the Ekstraliga named after Zenon Plech. After the competition, we spoke with the former world champion about his performance, a minor injury, and the honorarium for Tai Woffinden, which the BETARD SPARTA Wrocław rider announced on his social media.

  • The PGE Ekstraliga runner-up scored 11 points in the MAXTO ITS IMME in honor of Z. Plech.
  • He competed with a minor hand injury.
  • I posted about it, but the decision was collective, and everyone agreed that this way we will support Tai – said Artem Laguta.

Kamil Szyszkowski (ekstraliga.pl): We are now after the MAXTO ITS IMME named after Zenon Plech, and you ultimately took the second position. How would you rate their course?

Artem Laguta (BETARD SPARTA Wrocław): The start of the event was tough for me, I picked up two “ones.” In the third series, I felt I had better starts and better rides. I am satisfied with the second place. There were no weak opponents in the final, but despite that, it was a fun race.

In the grand finale, you tried to gain speed on the outside line, but that attack was blocked by the event winner – Michael Jepsen Jensen. Nevertheless, taking second place can be considered a success.

It’s just the beginning of the season, but it’s nice to already have a spot on the podium. Step by step, we are moving forward.

Watching your social media, I noticed that you competed with a minor hand injury. Is everything okay with it now, or will you still need rehabilitation?

My finger is not fully healed yet. I’ve been icing it between runs all the time. It’s a bit tough, but I’ll manage before the PGE Ekstraliga inauguration.

Before the competition, you also informed that all riders will donate their honorarium as support for the injured Tai Woffinden. Can you tell us more details about this?

All riders thought it over, and we agreed to do it this way. I posted about it, but the decision was collective, and everyone agreed that this way we will support Tai.

Next week, you have an inaugural match against KS Toruń. What is your approach for this meeting?

We will approach this match as we do any other competition, calmly. It’s just the start of the season, hopefully without any mistakes like in Bydgoszcz during the As Criteria.
