The 91st edition of the 'Przegląd Sportowy’ Athlete of the Year Poll is behind us. The title was won by Klaudia Zwolińska. The second place went to Iga Świątek, third to Wilfredo Leon, and Bartosz Zmarzlik ultimately placed just off the podium – in fourth place. As the official results showed, the 6-time world speedway champion missed out on a podium place by a small margin.
This year’s Sport Champions Gala was held at the Grand Theater in Warsaw. The sole representative of speedway was Bartosz Zmarzlik, for whom it was already the tenth nomination. – I love our league, which stands strong. Without the fans, this wouldn’t be possible – said the 6-time world champion on TVP before the event started.
The entire Polish speedway community supported Bartosz Zmarzlik in this year’s Athlete of the Year 2025 poll. League profiles and all PGE Ekstraliga, METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga, and National Speedway League clubs encouraged voting, which was noticed by the fans.
Ultimately, the ORLEN OIL MOTOR Lublin rider took fourth place. The exact results are also known, showing that Zmarzlik was less than 400 points short of surpassing Wilfredo Leon (a representative of Poland in volleyball).
