In 2010, the Polish national team won the DOP for the first time on a foreign track. In 2016, they did it for the third time, as in 2013, there was still Prague.
On August 29, the Poles will compete for the DOP in Warsaw. Cheaper tickets for this event can be purchased until the end of the year.
The White and Reds proved to be the best in Manchester in the 2016 season. The silent hero of our speedway riders turned out to be Krzysztof Kasprzak, who replaced Maciej Janowski. Coach Marek Cieślak’s instinct didn’t fail again.

The road to gold in 2016 began for coach Marek Cieślak’s team in Vojens. There, one of the semifinals was held. Our team performed excellently as they won, beating the second-place Danes by three points.
We immediately secured a spot in the final. Meanwhile, Denmark went to the playoff, where they finished second to Australia and dropped out of the medal race. This shows how valuable winning the semifinals was.
In the final, no one could match Poland. Compared to the semifinal, there was a change in our lineup. Maciej Janowski (only 7 points in the semifinal) was replaced by Krzysztof Kasprzak. The change wasn’t obvious. Janowski was a regular Grand Prix participant, and Kasprzak was not. However, Kasprzak did not disappoint. He scored 8 points and significantly contributed to the gold. Winning the cup in 2016 brought immense joy to Marek Cieślak.

– Winning with the youngest team, that’s something and a great satisfaction – said Cieślak. – I know not everyone was happy with my decision to bench Maciej. But I’m the one responsible for the result, and I’m the one held accountable. I analyzed everything and concluded Maciej was too slow on such long tracks as the one in Manchester. Krzysztof Kasprzak replaced him brilliantly. He showed once again that Polish speedway can count on him – he added.
The 2016 win for Poland is our last triumph in the DOP on a foreign track so far.
