After the announcement of the PGE Ekstraliga schedule for the 2026 season, we asked Piotr Protasiewicz, the new manager of BETARD SPARTA Wrocław, for a comment. For the league’s inauguration, the Spartans will face the former employer of the popular „PePe” – STELMET FALUBAZ Zielona Góra.
In the first round of the PGE Ekstraliga, there will be a confrontation between BETARD SPARTA Wrocław and STELMET FALUBAZ Zielona Góra. This match has an additional context as the Spartans will enter this confrontation under the command of Piotr Protasiewicz.
– For me, there’s no bad or good calendar. We have eight teams, and we have to compete with each of them. I don’t have my own vision and won’t get ahead of myself here because that’s the role of high-spirited experts writing strange things. The calendar is as it is, and the main goal for my team is to be fully healthy. It doesn’t make a big difference to me whether we compete with Gorzow or Zielona Góra. Next year will be a challenging season for the club because there are many very good teams, and it won’t be a two-speed race since we have six very evenly matched teams, any of which could be in the play-off phase, yet there are only four spots – commented the new sports director of Wrocław’s BETARD SPARTA.
– The start of the season will be very important, and consistent point gathering will be needed to reach the play-off phase, where everything starts anew. It’s not the case that BETARD SPARTA Wrocław or, for example, ORLEN OIL MOTOR Lublin or PRES Toruń has a pre-assigned spot in the final round – added „Pepe”.
In the next two rounds, Wrocław’s team will face away matches. The Spartans’ opponents will then be the teams of GEZET STAL Gorzów and subsequently BAYERSYSTEM GKM Grudziądz.
– As for the sparring matches, we have preliminary arrangements but don’t want to talk about details since not all are confirmed. We don’t suggest ourselves by where we will compete in the first rounds, because in our team we have only professionals who have well-analyzed tracks in the PGE Ekstraliga. It’s hard to aim in preparation to adjust opponents or tracks for the first away matches, and I certainly won’t be influenced by that – summed up the former Polish representative.
