Kamil Szyszkowski (ekstraliga.pl): You ended up winning against INNPRO ROW Rybnik 51:39. How do you assess the course of the match?

Vadim Tarasenko (BAYERSYSTEM GKM Grudziądz): I think we had control of the match. I started very well, but there was a bit of a misunderstanding in the second race and I got unnecessarily heated. From this side, I would like to immediately apologize to Kevin because a few unnecessary words were said. We are one team and everyone makes mistakes. Later, I tried to fight for valuable points for the team, but those races didn’t go well for me. I didn’t feel good at the start, especially in the later part of the match. It was a bit of a tough match for me.

In one of the races, your heart might have skipped a beat when Nicki Pedersen blocked your attack quite sharply.

I expected him in that spot. I didn’t see him with the corner of my eye, but Nicki knew well what I was going to do. My mistake that I didn’t overtake him earlier. I wanted to make a good place for Jaimon to overtake Chris Holder. Well, we are still learning and hopefully it will get better.

On Thursday, you trained at a similar time, but the weather conditions changed completely. This certainly could have influenced your performance.

Definitely. The characteristics of the engines changed. Already during the track test, I knew that what worked on Thursday wouldn’t work. There was over a 14-degree difference. The track behaved differently too, and we had to adapt anew. However, it’s not an excuse, and I believe you have to gain respect for INNPRO ROW because they put up a brave fight.

Twelve points is an appropriate difference before the rematch in Rybnik, thinking at least about the bonus point?

I think it doesn’t matter. We want to win there.

You have a match in Zielona Góra ahead. Remembering last year’s clash, do you think you’re capable of at least repeating that result?

I believe we are capable of even winning there. If we assume we are only going for a good result, then why go at all. We are going to fight for the highest goals. We have a good team, well-equipped riders, and great atmosphere.

Coach Robert Kościecha said he doesn’t want to set a goal for the team. So I ask you, what is BAYERSYSTEM GKM’s goal this season? Do you think it might be advancing to the top four?

Sure. We have ambitious riders, an ambitious team, an ambitious coach, and ambitious goals. In every match, we aim for the highest stakes, and that’s it.
